A SUSTAINABLE OPERATOR

A STEP TOWARD SUSTAINABILITY

We operate the JAKARE Liveaboard in a sustainable relationship with men and the environment on which we all depend. We work for a better knowledge of the environment in which we evolve to better preserve it and minimize our direct impact. We wish to put in place long terms actions to preserve the environment and a better sharing of the natural resources with the locals. We adhere to the values of LONGITUDE 181 and are classified as a Responsible Operator.

FROM DESIGN TO CONSTRUCTION

We had the chance to build our boat in Sulawesi and thus to be able to choose solutions that seemed eco-responsible to us. Here are a few of these solutions implemented.

  • Excellent quality wood selection for hull and superstructure durability.
  • Design of the boat, common parties: unlike most of other liveaboards, the common areas on the Jakaré are naturally ventilated: we limit the use of air conditioning and therefore the use of generators. This is doubly interesting because it allows customers to enjoy the boat without the low noise of the gensets and its preserve the environment with less CO2 emissions.

LOCAL INVOLVEMENT

Even if relationships are not always easy with local communities, we try to help them by prioritizing local development as much as possible. We shop at local markets, buy food directly from fishermen and producers, and endeavor to facilitate the sale of souvenirs directly from producer to consumer.

RESPONSIBLE DAILY MANAGEMENT

  • Natural soap for the boat and the crew and natural soap in all bathrooms for guests.
  • We adhere to the TRASHERO aluminum bottle program and make availableto our Customers these re-usable bottles, which they can buy at the end oftheir stay if they wish.
  • The crew uses re-usable canvas bags for food and day to day purchasing.
